Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information the Kath app and website collect, why, who it is shared with, how long it is kept, and the choices you have. Kath is only for adults aged 18 and over.

• We do not sell your data.
• We do not show ads and do not use advertising or third-party analytics tools.
• Other users never see your real name, email or profile. In anonymous chats and in the community you appear only under an anonymous name.
• You can delete your account and data at any time.

Account information

• Your email address and password (stored securely by our login provider), or your Google account details if you sign in with Google.
• Your name, as shown to you in the app.

Profile and onboarding information

• Your date of birth, used to confirm you are 18 or over.
• Your gender and who you are interested in (women, men or everyone). This can reveal your sexual orientation; we use it only to suggest compatible matches.
• Your onboarding answers, such as relationship status, goals, interests, communication style and preferred conversation depth.
• Your profile photo, if you add one.

Your use of Kath, the AI companion

• Your conversations with Kath.
• Journal entries, mood check-ins, goals, habits and events you share, which Kath uses to check in on you and send reminders.

Anonymous matching and chats

• If anonymous matching is turned on: a matching profile created automatically from your onboarding answers and your recent conversations with Kath. To create it, your recent messages to Kath are analysed by AI to identify your interests, communication style and general emotional patterns (for example your typical mood and how open you are), and to write a short summary of your personality and conversation style. The times you usually chat are used to find people who are active at similar times. This profile is never shown to other users and is only used to suggest matches. If you turn matching off, the profile is no longer updated or used for matching.
• Match suggestions and your answers to them.
• Messages you send in anonymous chats, and photos you share there (photos can be sent only after 15 days of a connection, and only by Premium members).

Community

• Your anonymous community name, posts, comments, photos, likes and reports.

Purchases

• Your Premium plan and when it ends. Payments are handled by Google Play; we never receive your card details.

Device and technical information

• A notification token so we can send you notifications, and your notification setting.
• Error reports and usage counts used to keep the app working and to apply fair-use limits.
• Feedback and safety concerns you send us.

• To run the app: your account, Kath conversations, journal, reminders, chats and community.
• To suggest anonymous matches with compatible people, if you have matching turned on.
• To keep people safe: messages and community content are checked automatically for harmful content and for sharing of personal contact details, and reported content is reviewed.
• To send notifications, such as new matches, messages, reminders and plan information. You can turn them off.
• To provide Premium and handle purchases.
• To answer your questions and feedback.

We share information only with service providers that run parts of Kath for us:

• Supabase: hosting, database, file storage and login.
• AI: generating Kath's replies, creating matching profiles, and automatic safety checks of messages and community content. According to AI's policies, data sent through its API is not used to train its models by default.
• Google: Google Sign-In, Google Play payments and notification delivery (Firebase).
• RevenueCat: managing Premium purchases.
• Expo: delivering notifications and app updates.
• Resend: sending account emails, such as sign-up and password emails.

We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect the safety of our users.

• All information is encrypted while it travels between the app and our servers.
• Access to stored data is restricted, and photos in an anonymous chat can only be opened by the two people in that chat.
• Location data is removed from profile and community photos before they are uploaded.

No system is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.

• Your account information: until you delete your account.
• Messages in anonymous chats are deleted automatically 1 hour after the chat ends. Chats between two free members end after 7 days.
• Photos shared in anonymous chats are deleted when either person in the chat deletes their account.
• When you delete your account, your data is deleted immediately (or within 7 business days if you ask us by email). Your anonymous chats end for both people and their photos are deleted.
• Community posts and comments of a deleted account are hidden from everyone, their photos deleted and the link to you removed. The hidden text is kept for safety records for 1 year, then permanently deleted.
• Safety and community reports are kept without your identity for 1 year, then permanently deleted.
• Feedback you sent is kept without your identity.
• Deleted data can remain in our backup copies for up to 30 days.
• Google Play and RevenueCat keep purchase records as required for billing and legal reasons.

• See your data: Settings > Export My Data emails you a copy.
• Change your information: update your gender, preferences and photo in Settings.
• Stop anonymous matching: turn off “Suggest anonymous matches” in Settings.
• Notifications: turn them off in Kath or in your phone settings.
• Delete messages, posts and comments: use the Delete option on them.
• Delete your account: Settings > Danger Zone > Delete My Account, or email meetkathh@gmail.com. When you delete your account, your data is deleted immediately (or within 7 business days if you ask us by email). Your anonymous chats end for both people and their photos are deleted. Community posts and comments of a deleted account are hidden from everyone, their photos deleted and the link to you removed (the hidden text is kept for safety records for 1 year, then permanently deleted).
