Privacy Policy

To provide our core "Conversation first. Identity later" experience, we collect the following types of information:

• Account and Onboarding Data: Information you provide during setup, including your email address, chosen interests, hobbies, communication style, and mood check-ins.
• In-App Messages: The text messages you send within private 1-on-1 anonymous conversations.
• Photos and Media: Photos you choose to share in chat once the 15-day photo-sharing feature is automatically unlocked.
• App Activity and Device Identifiers: Analytics such as how often you interact with matches, crash logs for troubleshooting, and pseudonymized account identifiers (e.g., Friend #F859).

App developers must follow Google's data protection policies for their product to get approved and published on the Google Play Store, which includes explaining how personal data is used for app functionality, personalization, analytics, and security. We use your data for the following purposes:

• App Functionality & Personalization: To facilitate secure messaging, manage your account, and deliver core app features.
• AI-Powered Matching (Disclosure): We utilize Artificial Intelligence to analyze your onboarding data, active hours, and chat history with the Kath AI assistant. This AI generates personalized match proposals and similarity scores to connect you with compatible users. This aligns with 2026 Google Play policies requiring apps that generate personalized content or AI-driven recommendations to clearly disclose the AI generation component.
• Trust, Safety, & Security: To enforce our community guidelines, process user reports, block malicious behavior, and maintain a safe environment.
• Analytics: To understand how users interact with the app and resolve technical crashes.

We value your anonymity. We do not sell your personal data or private messages to advertisers.

We only share data with third-party service providers (such as secure cloud hosting and analytics platforms) strictly necessary to operate the app. These providers are bound by strict confidentiality agreements.

Your security is our top priority. All user data, including private messages and photos, is encrypted in transit between your device and our servers, protecting the flow of user data. While we employ industry-standard security measures, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure.

You must be informed on how to request to rectify or remove your data. You have the right to request the complete deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time.

How to delete your account:

• Inside the app: Go to Settings > Danger Zone > Tap "Delete My Account" and confirm twice.
• Outside the app: Email us at meetkathh@gmail.com with the subject line "Account Deletion Request" from your registered email address.

What happens when you request deletion:

• Your profile, onboarding preferences, journal entries, matches, login credentials, and private chat messages are permanently removed within 7 business days.
• Safety reports you were involved in are retained for trust and safety purposes, but your personal identity is entirely removed from them.

Note on Subscriptions: Deleting your account will automatically cancel your active premium subscription on our backend. However, you can also manage your subscriptions directly through the Google Play Store (Play Store app → Profile → Payments & subscriptions).

Kath is explicitly restricted to users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal identifiable information from anyone under the age of 18. If we discover that a minor has provided us with personal data, we will immediately delete that information from our servers.

We use the specific preferences, hobbies, communication styles, and onboarding answers you provide during setup to initially connect you with like-minded users who share your interests.

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal obligations, and it is standard to describe a process for notifying users of changes or updates to the privacy policy. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Effective Date" at the top.
